Troubleshooting

How to fix a failed podcast audio or video upload

Fix common PodRescale upload problems: unsupported audio or video formats, large files, interrupted connections and links that do not point to media.

What you’ll be able to do

Identify the upload problem and choose a suitable retry, file or import route.

On this page

Start with the error message on the upload screen. An upload problem happens before the recording has fully reached PodRescale. A processing failure happens after the episode has started turning into content.

1. Check whether the episode already exists

Open Episodes and look for the recording. If it is processing, return to its progress page instead of uploading it again. If it has failed during processing, use processing recovery.

2. Check the file type and size

Use MP3, M4A or WAV for audio, or MP4 or MOV for video, up to 4 GB. Check the upload screen for the supported formats and limit.

Check the file guidance before retrying with the same recording.

Play the file locally. If it will not play, obtain a working copy or export it again from the recording tool. Changing the filename extension does not convert the recording.

If it is too large, export a smaller supported recording while keeping the speech clear. Cutting away unrelated footage can help; do not remove context needed for the episode.

3. Check your connection

Keep the page open while uploading. If your connection dropped, reconnect and use the retry action offered by the screen. A large video may need more time than an audio file.

Avoid submitting repeatedly while an upload is still underway. Check the status before starting a second attempt.

The link must point to a public supported recording without requiring login. Spotify, Apple Podcasts and cloud-storage preview pages are not direct media files.

Use your podcast's feed for a published episode, or download your own recording and upload the file. YouTube watch-link support is not available everywhere; the original file is the reliable route.

5. Check the allowance

If the app says no episodes remain, the file is not necessarily broken. Check Settings → Plan & team and the reset date. Ask the owner to review the allowance if needed.

If you still need help

Contact support with the file type, approximate size, episode title and exact error message. Say whether the upload never finished or processing later failed. Do not send sign-in links or account passwords.
