What you’ll be able to do

Upload one recording and start creating posts, clips and show notes from it.

Before you start

  • A recording you have permission to use
  • An episode available in your allowance
On this page

You can upload a podcast recording directly, even if the episode has not been published. Use the original audio or video file rather than a link to a streaming service's player.

1. Prepare the file

PodRescale accepts MP3, M4A and WAV audio, and MP4 and MOV video, up to 4 GB. The upload screen shows the supported formats and size limit.

Play the file on your computer first. Check that it contains the right episode and clear speech. A broken file, a recording with little speech or a protected download will not produce useful content.

Use the video recording when you want clips showing the speakers. If you only have audio, PodRescale can make audiograms instead. See podcast clips.

2. Open Upload a file

In Episodes, open the add-episode action and choose Upload a file. Select the file from your computer, or use the drop area when it is available.

If this is your first visit and you see Add your show, choose Upload an audio or video file below the show-search form. You can upload a recording before connecting a podcast feed.

Choose the file route when the recording is stored on your computer.

Check the selected file's name before continuing. If you chose the wrong recording, replace it before starting.

3. Finish the upload and start processing

Follow the upload screen's action to continue. Keep the page open while the file is uploading. A large video needs more time and a stable connection.

After the upload is complete, PodRescale starts the episode's processing flow. Once processing has started, you can leave the page and return later. We email you when it is ready.

An uploaded file uses your free episode or one episode from your current allowance. Check Settings → Plan if you have reached the limit.

4. Open the finished episode

Return to Episodes and open the recording. Check the transcript and speaker names, then choose Posts, Clips or Release kit. The content tour shows where to find each result.

If the upload fails

Read the message before trying again. A connection problem may need a retry; an unsupported format needs a different file. Keep a copy of the original recording until you have checked the result.

If the file is already processing, do not submit it again. Use upload troubleshooting for size, format and interrupted-upload problems.

Can I upload from my phone?

Yes, use the file picker on the upload screen. Keep the browser open until the upload finishes. For a large video, a computer on a stable connection is usually easier to manage.
