Step-by-step guide
How to add captions to podcast clips and edit post captions
Understand video subtitles and written social captions in PodRescale. Choose a caption style for podcast clips and edit the text that accompanies a post.
Choose the right caption setting and know which changes affect the video or the written post.
On this page
PodRescale renders subtitles into podcast clips so the words remain visible when you share the video. The clip can also have a written caption for the social post. These are separate pieces of content.
Video subtitles and written captions
| What you want to change | Where to look | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| The style of text inside future clips | Settings → Look | Caption style, size and position used when rendering |
| The text accompanying a clip online | Clip caption editor or the post in Review | The written social caption |
| A speaker's name | Speaker controls and Voice settings | Speaker credit; check any pending content updates |
Editing a written caption does not re-render a video or correct its burned-in subtitles. Always play the final clip to check the words visible on screen.
1. Choose a subtitle style
Open Settings → Look. Find the clip caption settings and choose the style that fits your show. Use the preview to check contrast and readability.
Choose the size and position, then wait for the saved confirmation. Avoid placing important words where they cover a speaker's face or are hard to read on a small screen.
2. Check a rendered clip
Process your next episode, open Clips and play a result. Review names, numbers and any specialist terms. Noisy speech or overlapping speakers can lead to transcription errors.
If a clip's subtitles are wrong, use a different clip or correct the video in your own editing tool before publishing. Do not assume that editing the accompanying post will fix the video.
3. Edit the written social caption
Open the clip's caption editor, or edit its post in Review. Replace the written text, check the platform's limit and save.
After saving, check the preview again. The written caption is updated; the existing rendered video stays as it was. If the save fails, keep your draft and follow the error message rather than closing it immediately.
Do changed settings update old clips?
Treat Look settings as the style for future rendering. An existing file does not change just because you selected a new preset. Download and play the exact file you plan to share.
