Step-by-step guide
How to add a podcast episode from an audio or video link
Add a public audio or video file URL to PodRescale. Learn the difference between a direct media link, an RSS feed and a YouTube or Spotify page.
Choose a working media link, or use an upload or feed when the link cannot be imported.
On this page
Use Paste a link when you have a public URL for the actual audio or video file. The link must let PodRescale fetch the recording without signing in.
1. Check what kind of link you have
| Link | Best route |
|---|---|
| Public MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4 or MOV file | Paste a link |
| Your podcast's RSS feed | Connect the feed |
| Spotify or Apple Podcasts episode page | Use the podcast's RSS feed |
| YouTube watch page | Upload your original video file |
| Private cloud-storage preview page | Download your file and upload it |
A page that plays media is not necessarily a media file. For example, a share page can require cookies or contain an embedded player that cannot be imported.
2. Open Paste a link
Open the add-episode action in Episodes, then select Paste a link. Paste the full address and follow the screen's instructions.
On a new workspace's Add your show screen, choose Upload an audio or video file to open the add dialog, then switch to Paste a link.
Use a stable public address. A temporary download URL may expire before processing can read the recording. If you cannot obtain a suitable URL, upload the file instead.
3. Confirm the recording and start processing
Check the title and source information shown before you continue. Once processing begins, return to Episodes to follow its progress.
When it finishes, the result has the same content tabs as an uploaded episode. Start with the transcript and check names and facts before sharing generated content.
Can I import a YouTube video?
YouTube-link importing is not available in every PodRescale environment. Do not assume a YouTube watch URL will work. If the link screen does not offer it, upload the original video you have permission to use.
Uploading your video to create clips is separate from connecting a YouTube channel to publish those clips. See how to publish podcast clips to YouTube Shorts.
If the link is rejected
Check that it is public, points to a supported recording and does not require a login. If it opens a webpage rather than the file, switch to an upload or podcast feed. Do not change the filename extension to disguise an unsupported file.
