Step-by-step guide
How to turn a podcast into short video clips
Create short clips from a podcast in PodRescale. Preview captioned videos or audiograms, check the source, edit the written caption and download files.
Find a useful moment, check the rendered clip and download it or review it for publishing.
Before you start
- A processed episode with clips
On this page
PodRescale selects short moments from an episode and makes clips you can share. A video recording can produce clips showing the speakers. An audio recording can produce an audiogram with visuals, audio and captions.
1. Open the Clips tab
Open a finished episode from Episodes, then choose Clips. Each card shows a moment and its duration. Start with a clip that makes sense without the rest of the conversation.
2. Play the rendered clip
Open the clip's preview and play it. Check the start, ending, audio, speaker framing and words on screen. A still preview is not enough to judge the result.
Listen for whether the clip keeps the speaker's meaning. A sentence can be accurate but misleading when separated from its context. Use the source or transcript link to check the surrounding conversation.
3. Check the written caption
A clip has two kinds of captions: the subtitles inside the rendered video, and the written caption that accompanies the social post.
Use the clip's caption editing action to change the written caption. Saving that text does not change the words burned into the video. See how clip captions work before making changes.
Check names, any call to action, hashtags and links. Do not say the clip contains something it does not show.
4. Download it or send it through Review
Use the clip's download action to save the video file. You can upload it yourself to the platform you use. Alternatively, open its planned social post in Review and check the destination and publishing time before approving.
Downloading does not publish the clip. Approving schedules the associated post according to its channel and time.
5. Set the look for future clips
Open Settings → Look to choose caption style, position, size and video framing. Do this before processing your next recording. Changing a setting does not immediately remake every clip already rendered.
Automatic framing focuses on speakers. Use the full-frame choice when you want to keep more of the source image, such as a demonstration or shared screen. Preview the result before sharing.

Open the episode, choose Clips and tap the clip you want. The episode tab row can scroll sideways. If you cannot see Clips, swipe that row rather than the whole page.
Why are there no clips?
A very short recording or one with little usable speech may not produce clips. Check whether rendering is still underway or has failed. If the episode shows an error, follow processing recovery.
